Common Problem

Why is My Timing Inconsistent?

Inconsistent timing means your strokes land at irregular intervals: sometimes ahead of the beat, sometimes behind, often without you noticing.

What causes this

Practicing without objective feedback lets timing drift become normal.

How to diagnose

Record 30 seconds with a metronome and check whether hits cluster before or after the click.

How to fix it

Practice quarter notes at 60 BPM, silence gaps, subdivisions and metronome-on-2-and-4 drills.

  1. Start slow enough to stay relaxed.
  2. Record or measure the exercise.
  3. Increase BPM only after clean repetitions.
